Dr. Matthews grew up in a small town in Southwest, Iowa. Coming from a close-knit family with strong Midwest values, Dr. Matthews learned the importance of hard work, dedication, and compassion. Growing up, he spent countless hours working manual labor jobs like roofing homes and pouring concrete, but he especially enjoyed working with his dad as they built their own home.
It was through these experiences he was able to witness the impact of a hard day’s work. Dr. Matthews has always been determined. He took these lessons he learned and applied them to his dream of becoming a dentist.
Dr. Matthews was introduced to dentistry at a very young age by his mother, a dental hygienist, and his father, who worked in dental equipment sales. He was always fascinated by the world of dentistry. Not only was it intellectually challenging, but the practice of dentistry allowed him to work with his hands. He realized the relationships formed through a simple dental visit by listening to the stories his parents would share and the lifelong friendships they have made through their own dental careers.
Dr. Matthews studied biology at Creighton University and was fortunate to be accepted into dental school after only three years of undergraduate studies. In 2017, Dr. Matthews graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry and began his dental career proudly serving as a Captain in the United States Army for four years. He is honored to have treated many of the men and women who serve our country.
Dr. Matthews is excited to continue his journey in Kansas City at S & G Family Dentistry, where he will continue to provide quality, conservative, and individualized care.
